NCP pocket inter - provincial cricket final
NORTH Central Province clinched the inter provincial cricket tournament when they defeatd Central Province outright by 61 runs with a day to spare in the final concluded at the Rangiri International Stadium in Dambulla yesterday. Central Province collapsed to 134 runs in their second innings after they were set a victory target of 195 runs. Gayan Wijekoon was the hero for North Central Province returning splendid bowling figures of 4 for 22. The champions North Central Province received a cash award of Rs. 1.25 million and the runners up Central Province received a cash award of Rs. 500,000. Chaminda Vaas of Western Province won the best bowlers award while Avishka Gunawardena of North Central Province was named best batsman of the tournament. Tillekeratne Dilshan of North Central Province was picked as the man of the tournament. |
