SLIM 2005 turns into fund-raiser
CHAIRMAN of SLIM Awards 2005,Jagath Gamanayake told a meeting of the
Executive Committee of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) that
it has unanimously decided to convert the much awaited Annual
Advertising Awards ceremony into a fund raiser.
SLIM Awards-2005 will be held as scheduled, on March 5
2005 at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre.
The Accredited Advertising Agencies' Association along
with SLIM, recognised the possibility of making this event an
opportunity to bring the marketing and advertising fraternity of this
country under one banner.
SLIM will be pledging 75% of its net profit from this
event to a Fund that will be used to finance a development project to be
specified by the Centre for National Reconstruction.
Through SLIM awards we can motivate our marketers and
agencies. We can enhance creativity of our agencies.
This year 22 agencies will participate in the event, he
said.
SLIM awards started in 1988 and have continued without a
break up to last year and this is the 16th award ceremony.
From an event where glamour was given secondary
treatment it has now become the most glamorous event in the corporate
world said Committee Chairman Advertising and PR of SLIM Awards 2005,
Lewie Diasz. Each year they focus on a different theme.
Last year's theme was "Crossing boundaries together".
This year the theme is "focus on the future."
Last year the TV Commercial of the Year, Print Ad of the
Year, Radio Commercial of the Year, and Campaign of the Year, were
awarded to the marketer as well as the agency. This has been highly
commended by the marketers.
This year we are trying to do something different in
different tone, Diasz said. |
