NCCSL, Mackwoods donate 100 coir yarn machines

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) in association with Mackwoods Pvt Ltd distributed the 100 Machines to the Tsunami affected SMEs in Ambalangoda area recently.

Coir based products manufacturers in the Southern Region contribute to the national economy to a great extent. Exporters and SMEs have suffered huge losses/damages due to Tsunami disaster.

Sri Lanka is the single largest supplier of coir fiber to the world market and together with India accounts for almost 90% of global coir exports. The Sri Lankan coir provides at least part-time employment to an estimated 40,000 persons.

Senior officials from the EDB and Lal Kumara Gamage, Secretary to the Ministry of Advanced Technology and National Enterprise Development were also present at the handing over of the Coir Yarn machines.
