Thera helps tsunami victims

by Chandima Mahapatabendige

Ven. Mahagalkadawala Punyasara Thera, President, Sathkorale Sadaham Kendraya, a grass roots level peace worker during the conflict period who shuttled to North and East and even to the war torn uncleared areas have now turned out to be a concerned relief worker in the North and East by taking caravans of dry rations and clothes for the tsunami affected people in these areas.

Recently he took lorry loads of dry rations and clothes to several refugee camps in Trincomalee. While Ven. Punyasara Thera was in Trincomalee he was able to meet Ms. Margherita Boniver, Italian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs who led a special delegation to the affected areas of Kinniya.

He told the visiting Italian delegation the massive extent of damage caused by tsunami to these areas and profusely thanked them for their quick response in helping Sri Lanka.
