WDT helps tsunami victims

The World Discovery Tours (WDT) of New Zealand and Tour East (Lanka) Limited has jointly developed a tour option for those who want to visit Sri Lanka.

Tourists from New Zealand on holiday will be afforded an opportunity to spend a part of their vacation engaged in voluntary work in a tsunami affected area, states, Tour East press release.

The first group under this programme from New Zealand will be arriving shortly and will spend 10 days in Sri Lanka and will have a minimum of five days of voluntary community service in Kalutara district.

"We expect to have several tourists to visit Sri Lanka within the next few months as a back to back operation. This is something very small that we can do to show our concern and solidarity", said Stephen Greenfield, Managing Director, World Discovery Tours, New Zealand.

Justin Meegoda, Chairman, Tour East Lanka Limited the local franchise operator for Tour East Singapore stated: "We continue to promote Sri Lanka as one of the world's best tourist destinations.

the tsunami disaster is a setback to our nation and to tourism in the country but we need to find new ways and means to overcome the situation."
