Eden to re open on Feb. 1 The Eden Resort and Spa, the five star property in Beruwela, which was temporary closed after the impact of the tsunami would be re opened from February 1. Eden owned and operated by the Confifi group of hotels and the first spa resort to be introduced in Sri Lanka will operate with 131 rooms. The hotel was built at a cost of Rs. 500 million. According to General Manager Sales, Anushka Lovell, said that the tsunami caused some damage to their ground floor rooms, kitchen, restaurant and the garden. "Though there was some property damage none of the guests or employees lost their lives," she said. A week following the disaster saw the staff work at a remarkable pace to bring the hotel to its original state and the guests visiting would not be deprived of any of their luxuries. The bar and the spa have been relocated at alternative venues. Among the newly introduced facilities are the deluxe rooms and suites on the top floor, Chameleon 24 hour coffee shop, and Temptations restaurant. She said that several leading travel agents have already visited their property after the tsunami and have raised their satisfaction. "We are confident that we would be looking at a occupancy of around 40 percent in February and to pick up fast," she said. The hotel spread over five acres of tropical gardens fronting the "golden mile" of Beruwela beach, boasts of a large swimming pool, which is fully operational. She said that they are inquiriesfrom the Dutch and the Indian market. "This is a new emerging market for us. The local bookings too are very encouraging," she said. (SS) |
