No restrictions, says SLSCA

The Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association (SLSCA) yesterday decided to continue with the current inter-school cricket season with no restrictions on the schools affected by the recent tsunami disaster.

The SLSCA had earlier insisted that all schools should play a minimum of eight matches to be eligible for the limited overs knockout tournament which begins on March 23.

But a spokesman for the SLSCA said that this rule will not apply for the schools hit by the tsunami disaster and instead they will automatically qualify for the limited overs tournament. In addition all other schools will now need to complete only six matches to qualify for the knockout tournament.

However the deadline to complete all league matches have not been changed and the scoresheets should reach the secretary SLSCA on or before February 3.

The schools that have been severely affected by the destruction are Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda, Sri Devananda College Ambalangoda, Mahinda College, Richmond College, St. Aloysius College, Vidyaloka MV Galle, St. Servatius College and Sri Rahula College Matara.
