Cost of damage to top $ 1.3 b The Central Bank Governor said yesterday that the preliminary estimate of the total cost of the destruction caused by Tsunami is about US$ 1.3 billion. "Out of the total cost on relief, reconstruction and rehabilitation we will have to set aside about Rs.550 million as the foreign component which will be used for imports. He said the sector wise estimates have not completed yet but said that he expected the cost of damage on housing sector will be about US$900 million. |
