Reconstruction work in well planned manner

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga began the process of reconstructing the coastal areas devastated in the wake of Sunday's Tsunami waves tragedy yesterday itself by giving all necessary instructions to the relevant authorities to commence the reconstruction work in a well planned manner, the Presidential Secretariat sources said.

Accordingly, President Kumaratunga has appointed Special Task Force to achieve the task of reconstructing all the devastated areas in Tsunami wave hit areas in the country.

The President yesterday herself witnessed the devastation caused by the Tsunamis in the Hambantota and Matara districts.

At a meeting held yesterday the President has given the task to all the Ministries connected to the reconstruction process to come up with their plans for housing construction, road development, water supply, and all other infrastructure facilities by January 15 at the latest.

Accordingly, President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga plans to resettle the people affected by Sunday's tragedy in safer areas away from the coast so that they will not face such tragedies in the future.
