by Nadira Gunatilleke

All employees of the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited (ANCL) will donate their day's salary to set up a fund under the direction of ANCL Chairman Janadasa Peiris to provide long term relief for Sunday's tidal wave victims.

The money will be used to help vicitims in the North and East.

The social and economic activities of families in selected affected areas will be rebuilt with the assistance of this fund in four or five months.

ANCL employees will also donate extra funds and other essential items. The public can also donate funds for the fund. The account number will be notified soon. The public will also be notified of the items needed.

ANCL will provide biscuits, medical assistance and other immediate needs worth around Rs. 35,000. The items will be handed over to the National Disaster Management Centre (NDMC).Addressing a meeting at the ANCL yesterday, Chairman Peiris said the fund will be initiated with Rs.2 million. The employees will donate their day's salary for this fund.
