All 60,000 soldiers who deserted were not with arms - Military spokesman

Military Spokesman Brigadier, Daya Ratnayake told the Galle district Journalists on Saturday, that, media must convey the news, to the public, that, all the 60,000 soldiers who deserted the army were not with the arms they held while in the army, It is no cause for alarm for the public he insisted. The Army has lost only 47 weapons so far, and only 11 sliders deserted the army with their arms he said.

47 soldiers so deserted the army, have been involved in 47 crimes he pointed out. National Security doesn't mean the mere expansions in the Army, Navy, Air-Forces he said. National Security must be in the fields of social, cultural, agricultural and self sufficiency in our needs was the expert opinion he said. "Political instability is a threat to National Security' he pointed.

Media has the power to lead forces into the fray or not pointed out. Army will never leave any room to divide the country and it is the army that takes the lead in the preventions of any national disaster, he said and pleaded to consider any error in the army as mistake and ended.
