All rally under one banner to assist

The leading business Chambers, private and government sector institutions have come forward in this time of national disaster to assist the people in the costal areas who were affected by Sunday's tidal wave.

The Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) has set up a special Relief coordination Unit at its Secretariat at 53 Vauxhall Lane Colombo to collect all donations. Contributions may also be handed over at any district Chamber offices of the FCCISL.

Financial contributions are preferred by account payee cheques in favour of FCCISL - relief coordination Unit, Account No: 120580650 Commercial Bank Borella Branch.

More information could be obtained on telephone numbers 5374801-3/ 5374807. It is planned to commence the distribution operation by Wednesday, December 29.

The J- Biz appreciated the prompt initiative taken by the President in appointing a Committee comprising all party leaders to accelerate the relief work. J-BIZ have called upon all constituent chambers to extend their unstinted cooperation to the government in its efforts for relief programs.

The People's Bank will assist all those affected by this disaster with the setting up of an "Emergency Crisis Management Centre" which will assess and coordinate relief measures for those affected by this crisis.

The BOI Management Committee has set up a Task Force to deal with the current National Emergency situation, so that the considerable resources of BOI enterprises countrywide may be mobilised with maximum efficiency.

This task Force will coordinate information exchange, the collection of supplies, and voluntary work. People's Bank has also set up a 'National Disaster Relief Fund' bearing account No: 204-100-180-136-222 and contributions are being accepted to this account for a coordinated relief response.

Jay Kay Marketing Services opened all Keells super outlets around the island as Collection Centres for people affected by the disastrous flood which occurred on Sunday.

Keells Super and Cargills Super too have come forward with a similar service at their outlets.
