The 2004 South Asia Regional Resource Mobilisation Workshop, the theme of which is the "Diversifying funding sources: Challenges and opportunities in South Asia "has been organised by the Centre for Advancement of Resource Mobilization (CARM) in partnership with the Resource Alliance from November 20 to 23 at Trans Asia Hotel, Colombo. Resource Alliance, a UK registered charity is an international network working to build the capacity of not-for-profit organisations to mobilise funds and local resources for their causes. Though it has been co-hosting workshops in South Asia since 1989, this is the first venture into Sri Lanka and marks the start of a new partnership with the CARM. This 3-day workshop will consist of a dynamic mix of inspirational plenary sessions and interactive workshops, which will address the challenges and opportunities of resource mobilisation in South Asia. The program will be hosted by leading practitioners and experts who will provide an in-depth and highly participatory learning environment on key aspects of resource mobilization. The objectives of this program include, providing the participants with a platform for sharing regional and international best practice and success stories, bringing people together to discuss and network on issues of common concern and promoting fund raising as a profession. The participants are given the opportunity of attending four workshops of their choice: workshop 1 on Communication in fund raising, getting your message across; workshop 2 on fund raising through micro finance; workshop 3 on Taking a strategic approach, workshop 4 on Developing and managing corporate partnership, workshop 5 on The role of boards in fundraising and workshop 6 on Making your case: How to write effective proposals. Both the Resource-Alliance and Centre for Advancement of Resource Mobilisation have worked hard to guarantee a high quality of training, with the aim to make these workshops fun and provide opportunities for delegates to network and learn from one another. |
