Ranil leaves for India

United National Party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe left for India yesterday. He was accompanied by Milinda Moragoda, MP.

While in India he is scheduled to meet Indian President Abdul Kalam, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, External Affairs Minister Natwar Singh and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. National Security Advisor J.N.Dixit will host a luncheon for Mr. Wickremesinghe.

Sources said that there was a possibility of his meeting the Norwegian Deputy Foreign Minister Vidar Helgessen in New Delhi and briefed him on the present position of the peace process brokered by them as facilitators.
