To facilitate unique projects of this nature, the company has created a special segment within the CDL namely Offshore Engineering. The floating dock built by IHI Japan sank during routine operations in November 06, 2002, when the ballast control system failed, leading to uncontrolled trim, resulting in flooding of wing-wall compartments and consequent sinking of the dock at the moored location in Port Blair, Andaman Islands. The dock was salvaged in early February last year, after being submerged over 3 months under water', said Director CEO, Mangala Yapa. Floating Dock - 1 (FDN -1) is of 188.70 meters in length and 40.00 meters in breadth.
