Alcobronz bags INCO 2004 award by Edward Weerasinghe, Kelaniya group correspondent Alcobronz (Pvt) Limited, a leading manufacturer and marketer of a wide range of wood working machines received the coveted award for the 'Best Locally Manufactured Product Display' at the INCO 2004 Industrial and Trade Fair organised by the Institute of Incorporated Engineers Sri Lanka at the BMICH recently. Technical Director of the Company Vernon Tilakaratne said that the award winning production is a 12" heavy duty multi-purpose wood working machine specially manufactured for processing local hard wood. The company had already commenced the production of this award winning model UH - 310 at their factory at Mahara, Kadawatha. Tilakaratne said that he and the Managing Director Lakshman Silva set up the Alcobronze Company over 30 years ago. The production of wood working machines was commenced to fill the void that existed in the local industry. These products can be now seen in all parts of the country. Tilakaratne thanked the Managing Director for his encouragement and guidance in making this project a success. He commended the Technical and factory staff who toiled hard to produce the new machine. Tilakaratne lamented the lack of State patronage for this type of industry but was confident that their endeavours would help save foreign exchange while providing more gainful employment. Alcobronz (Pvt) Limited won the 'Merit Award for the Best Locally Manufactured Product Display' last year at the INCO 2003 exhibition. |
