My Government has got a clear mandate for peace

"My Government has obtained a clear mandate at numerous elections to end the war and to bring about a negotiated settlement of the conflict that would satisfy all the people of Sri Lanka founded on democracy, respect for human rights, a pluralist polity and good governance, said President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga in her Address to the 59th United Nations General Assembly Sessions at the UN Headquarters in New York yesterday.
