Hotel shares dominate trading

Hotel shares continued to dominate trading at the Bourse yesterday. The ASPI jumped by 697.70 points from 1,441.70 on Friday to 2,139.40 while the Milanka Index dipped by 691.67 from 2,134.87 points to 1,443.26.

The turnover for the day was Rs.273,068.054. Domestic purchases were Rs.181,045,078 and foreign purchases Rs.91,978,766. The heavily traded shares were Ahot Properties, Colombo Land, Distilleries, Eden Hotel Lanka, Nawaloka and Reef Comber.

The top five gainers were Hunas Falls, Miramar, Kandy Hotels, Pegasus Hotels and Sigiriya Village.

Dr. P. Ramunujam, Secretary, Ministry of Tourism

Dr. P. Ramunujam has been appointed Secretary to the Ministry of Tourism with immediate effect.

The Secretary to Minister of Industries, Investment Promotion and Tourism U. Widanapathirana was overlooking this position.Ramunujam was earlier Secretary to the Ministry of Estate Infrastructure.
