President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga arrived in New York on Sunday night to attend the UN General assembly at the UN Headquarters this week. Here, the President is greeted on arrival by Sri Lankan embassy staff to her private suite. Acting Permanent Representative Bernard Goonetilleke was also present. Minister Anura Bandaranaike accompanied the President.

‘I believe we are at threshold of transforming our little country where all communities can live in peace’

President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga in her world peace day message for 2004 states that she believes we are at the threshold of transforming our little country into a peaceful nation where all communities can live in peace and harmony.
