Clipsal's benefits to customers, forex savings commended

Clipsal Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, a majority Sri Lankan owned company, completes two decades of manufacturing and distributing quality electrical switches and sockets. To date, over 84 million switches and 22 million sockets have been produced at the company's modern factory in Maharagama - a spokesman for the company said.

Clipsal Lanka offers a range of electrical accessories - from the light meter at the entry point to the light bulb as end usage.

"The benefits to customers and the economy are great savings in foreign exchange and a significant improvement in local skill levels", said Managing Director Kushan Kodituwakku of the Company.

In the field of manufacturing electrical accessories, Clipsal Lanka (Pvt) Ltd's factory at Maharagama is considered Asia's best and on par with leading factories in the world. State-of-the-art equipment includes Arburg Injection Moulding Machines, and High Speed Rotary Transfer Machines capable of making metal components at the rate of one every two seconds.

The Group Companies employ over 500 skilled young Sri Lankans. Of these 70 percent are under 35 years while 80% have passed their GCE Ordinary Level and Advanced Level, ranking Clipsal Lanka among the factories in Sri Lanka with the highest levels of literacy.

Eighty percent of them are from the Western Province, mainly the Maharagama electorate. These employees are provided with comprehensive training in their respective fields and are assured of a well-defined career path, as well as a bright future.

Clipsal Lanka (Pvt) Ltd won the ISO 9001:2000 accreditation and was certified for SLS Standards, complying with BS and IEC specifications. Since their establishment in 1983, Clipsal Lanka have been at the forefront of taking the electrical appliance business to new heights, manufacturing and distributing products that cater to the complete needs of customers.
