Demand for pilots and engineers increasing - Air Vice Marshal The growth in the domestic aviation industry will require more pilots and engineers in the future said Air Vice Marshal P. H. Mendis. Mendis who was the Chief Guest at the Asian Aviation Centre [AAC] seventh annual Academic Awards Ceremony at the BMICH recently said that this is due to the Minister of Aviation Mangala Samaraweera, giving priority to develop Aviation. Speaking about the awards presentation, Air Vice Marshal Upali Wanasinghe said that 219 awards were presented at this year's presentation. "This is an increase of about 80 awards over the last year," he said. The ceremony is an important event as the academy publicly confirms a person's success. The AAC was convinced that the students are ready to take the next step in their career. "Aviation being a specialised field requires strict discipline and precision and the awards ceremony was based on these important fundamentals," he said. The main awards presented were for the certificate for the Best Academic Performance in BEng/ HND in Aerospace/Mechanical and Automotive Design, BSc in Computer Information Systems. Students who completed the Private Pilot Licence also received awards. Course Director Engineering Degree Program in Kingston University, UK Dr. Peter Brarrington was the Guest of Honour. |
