Uva Highlands tops BOP, BOPF prices by S. M. Jiffrey Abdeen, Kandy South group correspondent Uva Highlands Group, Bandarawela topped the prices for Broken Orange Pekoe (BOP) and Broken Orange Pekoe Fannings (BOPF) for the Upcountry region by selling these grades for tea for Rs. 700 and Rs. 400 per kilogramme at the tea auctions held on September 15 according to a release by Forbes and Walkers Limited. The top price for Pekoe was by Mahagastotte Group which sold this grade of tea for Rs. 510 per kilo. The other top prices were Kenilworth Group Rs. 370 for BOP, Kirkoswald Group Rs. 440 for Pekoe and Shawlands Group Rs. 325 for Pekoe. The top prices for the various sectors at this sale were: Medium Grown: BOP Rs. 370 and BOPF Rs. 237 by Kenilworth Group, Pekoe Rs. 295 Cocilton Group. Western High Grown: BOP Rs. 246 Inverness Estate, BOPF Rs. 242 Campion Group, Pekoe Rs. 440 Kirkoswald Group. Nuwara Eliya Tea: BOP Rs. 226 Lovers Leap Estate, BOPF Rs. 212 Court Lodge Estate, and Pekoe Rs. 510 Mahagastotte Group. Udapussellawa Tea: BOP Rs. 265 Blailomond Group, Rs. 255 Delmar Group, BOPF Rs. 194 High Forest Group and Luckyland Group, Pekoe Rs. 260 Mooloya Group. Uva Tea: BOP Rs. 700 and BOPF Rs. 400. Uva Highlands Group, Pekoe Rs. 325. Unorthodox tea (CTC) Western High: PF 1 Rs. 201 Wanarakaj Group, Rs. 200 Florence Estate and Kotiyagalla Group, BP 1 Rs. 178 Mt.
