The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) has fairly frequent meetings with LTTE Chief Velupillai Prabhakaran, but even they had been unprepared for his verbal tirade at a recent closed door meeting deep in the Wanni. At this meeting, Prabhakaran had cast serious doubts over the political finesse of TNA Parliamentarians R. Sampanthan, Mavai Senathirajah, M. Kanagenthiran and A. Eelaventhan. TNA insiders say Sampanthan has been criticised for enjoying a political 'vacation' in Europe and North America between June 19 and August 14, 2004 especially when the JVP was launching an anti-ISGA campaign against the LTTE in the South. Senathirajah has been identified as a 'numb political animal'. Eelaventhan has been accused of being insensitive to political stratagems of the LTTE, which is said to be seriously contemplating replacing them with dynamic political activists attuned to the thinking of the LTTE hierarchy. |
