He will also hold meetings with regional archaeological Directors and deliver a series of lectures on Sri Lankan archaeology at Benares Hindu University Varanasi, Kolkota, Bhubaneshwar and Chennai.

The Distinguished Visitor Status Awarded to Prof. Seneviratne is considered to be a rare honour bestowed upon a professional in Sri Lanka. He resided in India for ten years and received his complete higher education in New Delhi. He is the first Sri Lankan to receive the Master and the Doctoral Degree from the Jawaharlal Nehru University.

Currently he is completing a book on The Maurya Empire in South India on an invitation from the Indo-Sri Lanka Foundation. While his research work celebrates cultural diversity in antiquity, Prof. Seneviratne has gone on to redefine the role of non-parochial archaeology and education in conflict resolution.
