by Sarath Malalasekera An engineer alleged to have used pictures of the Buddha on women's clothing through the Internet was remanded till September 23 by Colombo Additional Magistrate Wikum A. Kaluarachchi. Indika de Silva and Senaratne of the CID who produced Gamini Ranawake of Colombo, said they searched the suspect's residence on a court order and found that www geocities.com had been used to send the Buddha's pictures through the Internet. The CID objected to the suspect being released on bail as investigations were not over. Counsel appearing for the suspect, said they are prepared to plead to the charge if the CID files a plaint against the suspect. After submissions by the Defence Counsel and the CID, the Magistrate remanded the suspect till September 23 and directed the CID to file a further report the next date. |
