Apollo Hospitals turnover up 85% to Rs. 1,487 m

Apollo Hospitals Colombo recorded a turnover of Rs 1,487 million which was up by 85% from the year before. The Earnings Before Interest Depreciation Taxation (EBIDTA) was Rs 182 million which was a 349% increase over the year before.

The other financial highlights of this year were control on operating costs which remained at Rs 340 Million for the whole year. There was also a reduction on financial expenses from Rs 195 Million to Rs 176 Million. There was also a better control on Material Usage showing a drop from 37% to 33% of revenue. There was better control of inventories this year with the same stock position of Rs 64 Million in spite of a revenue growth of 85%.

Now on par with all other international healthcare groups. Apollo has five information centres fully functional in Kandy, Matara, Jaffna, Ratnapura and Batticaloa. There are also five more centres in the process of being set up within the year across the country.

The first private hospital to carry out kidney transplantation surgeries, joint replacement and LASIK surgeries, Apollo has in its two years of operations, also carried out 1,200 cardiac surgeries and has had more than half a million patient interactions.

The Apollo Hospitals Group's health tourism initiative - "healing the world" is the vanguard for Apollo's growth in Sri Lanka. According to Apollo Hospital Group Chairman, Dr. Prathap C Reddy, "the key necessity to promote this health advantage that Sri Lanka enjoys is the country's potential for non-stop transportation from other countries. More direct flights into Sri Lanka will help to give this country the level of attractiveness for health tourists that Asian capitals such as Bangkok and Singapore currently enjoy."

Apollo Hospitals Colombo commenced its operations in Sri Lanka in June 2002. Spread over a built-up area of more than 350,000 square feet in Narahenpita (Colombo 5), the hospital is equipped to accommodate 500 beds out of which currently 350 beds are operational.

It is geared to provide round-the-clock, 365-day services in Emergency, Cardiac, Neurological and Orthopaedic care as well as over 50 other medical services. Apollo showcases the very synergy of medical technology and advances in IT through Telemedicine, providing access to the best medical professionals from across the world.
