Prof. Goonasekera's appointment to enrich decision-making process - SEC Director General The appointment of Prof. Savithri Goonasekera as a Commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) will enrich the decision -making process of the SEC, said Director General of SEC Palitha Silva Gunawardene. "Prof. Goonasekera as a legal luminary in Sri Lanka will be able to contribute her expertise for the improvement of the regulatory policies and the market development aspects of the Capital Market of Sri Lanka", SEC sources said. She is currently on an overseas tour and is expected to take up duties as soon as she returns to the island. She was the Vice Chancellor of the University of Colombo and the Open University. She was also a Professor of Law and Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of the Open University. She has read for a Masters Degree in Law from the Harvard Law School. (SP) |
