News Business Features Editorial Security Politics World Letters Sports Obituaries | MEP organises Satyakriya at Kirivehera A Satyakriya organised by the Mahajana Eksath Peramuna (MEP) to invoke blessings on the country for the protection of its unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity was held near the Kirivehera, Kataragama for the 10th successive year on August 28. The religious observances were conducted by Kirivehera Viharadhipati, Ven. Aluthwewa Soratha, Chief Adhikarana Sanghanayaka Thera of Ruhunu Magampattuwa. A press release issued by the MEP said a significant feature this year was the launching of a project to build 10 houses for 10 needy families at Nagaha Veediya, a remote area in Kataragama to coincide with the Satyakriya. Ven. Aluthwewa Soratha Chief Adhikarana Sanghanayaka Thera commended Minister Dinesh Gunawardena for the keen interest shown by him in national and religious affairs by organising a 'Satyakriya' of this nature annually for the last 10 years. Minister, Dinesh Gunawardena addressing the gathering after the conclusion of the Satyakriya said the MEP organised the event to pray for the protection of the unity and territorial integrity of the motherland protection and perpetuation of the Buddha Sasana and courage and strength to ensure the country's forward march. They also invoked blessings for the unity of the five fold forces in this country, namely the Sangha, native physicians, teachers, farmers and workers for the future progress of the nation. |
