Top Indian campaigner to address seminar on book piracy A seminar organised by the Book Sellers Association of Ceylon in association with the Colombo International Book Fair could be the catalyst for a long overdue war on book piracy in Sri Lanka. Part of the agenda of the sixth Colombo International Book Fair (CIBF) opening at the BMICH on September 7 seminar "Piracy vs. the rights of publishers under the Intellectual Property Act" will feature presentations from campaigners across the Palk Strait on an issue that has hitherto eluded the spotlight in this country. Top Indian lawyer Akash Chittranshi, considered a leader in copyright law in the Asian region, Dr. D. M. Karunaratna, Director General of the National Intellectual Property Office of Sri Lanka and Superintendent of Police Ravi Vidyalankara are billed to be the three main speakers at this event at the BMICH Cinema Hall from 9 am to 1 pm. |
