Two LTTE cadres killed, another injured in mine attack

Two LTTE cadres were killed and another woman LTTE cadre was seriously injured in a claymore mine attack at Kayankerni, Valachchenai around 2.15 pm yesterday, Military sources told the Daily News yesterday.

Bawa, the former Political Wing leader in the Amparai district, and a LTTE rehabilitation official were killed as they came under an ambush attack at Pullavi junction in Kayankerni, sources added.

Around five LTTE members of the Wanni faction in three motorcycles had reportedly come under this attack when returning from a public meeting against the Karuna faction in Palavi, sources added.

Troops from the nearby Army camp had supported the LTTE cadres survived from the attack to evacuate the bodies and also to admit the injured LTTE women cadre to the Valachchenai hospital, military sources added.
