A consignment of fertiliser worth Rs 18.7 million has been released to the LTTE from the Fertiliser Corporation during the previous UNP regime but no money has been paid for it, Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Land and Irrigation Anura Kumara Dissanayake told Parliament yesterday. He said this consignment of fertilizer had been released from the Thamankaduwa stores without any guarantee during the UNP regime. The Minister was responding to an oral question raised by UNP MP Ravi Karunanayake relating to fertiliser prices. Responding to a claim by Karunanayake, Minister Dissanayake said this sale of fertiliser to the LTTE was one reason for the increase in the sales of fertiliser during the UNP regime. |
