Emirates and YesFM launch Cricket Mastermind Challenge

The upcoming bid by Sri Lanka's high-flying cricket team to win the ICC Champions Trophy in the UK in September will be supported by an exciting promotion from Emirates and the country's leading hit music station, YesFM.

The award-winning airline, which is a major supporter of cricket through its high profile sponsorship of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Umpires & Referees, is offering one lucky Sri Lankan cricket fan a return ticket to the UK.

This can be won in the 'Emirates Cricket Mastermind Challenge' competition conducted in association with YesFM, which will provide tickets to the first two preliminary matches that Sri Lanka will play.

Listeners to the YesFM 'Morning Show' have been invited to call in and register to compete for this prize. Registered contestants will be called at random by the station and provided an opportunity to face six questions.

Each question, or delivery in cricketing parlance, will carry three options - a slow ball that if faced correctly would earn the contestant one run, a fast ball with a potential four runs, and a 'doosra' with a maximum reward of six runs. Contestants who choose to face all six doosras can score a whopping 36 runs, but can also be knocked out if even one of them is answered incorrectly. The more cautious may choose to face slow or fast balls, but must confront at least one doosra. The competitor scoring the highest number of runs will win the prize.

Emirates Area Manager Sri Lanka and Maldives Tissa Bibile commented: "Sri Lanka cricket is on a roll with a first ever Test series win against South Africa and victory at the Asia Cup. Emirates and YesFM will heighten the excitement with this competition, which is not for the faint-hearted."

The 'Emirates Cricket Mastermind Challenge' concludes on September 3. Sri Lanka's first two preliminary matches in the ICC Champions Trophy are against Zimbabwe (September 14 at the Oval, London) and England (September 17 at the Rose Bowl, Southampton).
