Home of golf acknowledges Sri Lanka Golf Union

The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews (R & A) completed its celebrations to mark its 250th Anniversary in June this year after having hosted all representatives from very golfing nation worldwide. The Sri Lanka Golf Union (SLGU) was represented by Shiran de Soysa and Priath Fernando.

During their visit, out of the over 50 countries represented, only five countries including Sri Lanka were chosen to personally be greeted by the Captain of the R & A, Prince Andrew, Duke of York.

Priath's father, Sri Lanka's golfing legend Pin and Dr. Lance Fernando, both former Presidents and Captains of the Royal Colombo Golf Club were the only two Sri Lankans to become members of the R & A.
