PM chief guest at Zahira College Thamil Vizha

Zahira College will hold their 'Thamil Vizha', the Tamil Day Celebrations at the College on August 20 and 21, highlighting the contribution made by Zahira College and the Muslim Community for the development of the Tamil Language.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakshe will be the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony scheduled to start at 9.15 am. Minister of Environment and Natural Resources A.H.M. Fowzie, Minister of Housing and Construction Industry, Eastern Province Education and Irrigation Development Ferial Ashraff, M.H. Mohamed, M.P.M.M. Mahroof M.P., Rishard Badiudeen and Hasan Ali MP will be the guests of honour.

Professor Chandrasekeran will be the Chief Guest for the Second sitting of the first day Programmes. A Stage of Poets' headed by Professor Kaviko Abdul Rahman will take place in this session.

The second day programmes named 'A.M.A. Azeez session' will start at 8.30 am with the arrival of chief guest Deputy Minister of Media Segu Issadeen. A symposium headed by Dr. M.A.M. Shukri will take place in this session.

Governor of Western Province Alavi Moulana will the be chief guest of the final session on 22.08.2004. Rauf Hakeem, Mano Ganeshan, M.P., T. Maheswaran, M.P., Rathakrishnan, M.P. S. Ram, Member of Provincial Council and Azath Sally Deputy Mayor of Colombo Municipal Council will be the guests of honour.

An exhibition and publication of 'Thamil Amudham' souvenir are some of the major events of the celebrations.
