Sevana Fund to construct 188 houses in Jaffna by Nimal Rajapakse The Sevana Fund has released Rs. 11 million to construct 188 houses in the uncleared areas of the Jaffna peninsula. According to the National Housing Development Authority, construction work has begun on 43 houses in Jaffna, 20 houses in Kilinochchi and 100 houses in Mannar out of this fund. The people in these areas have not received any housing loans from any of the public or private institutions for this purpose. The Government has taken steps to grant Rs. 25,000 per person as aid to build a house, NHDA sources revealed. In addition to this, the NHDA has initiated a programme to grant Housing loans to construct 258 houses in the Jaffna area. These loans will be released in stages depending on the extent of construction. |
