False rumours dip bourse

Investors went for panic selling yesterday after false rumors spreaded in town and market dipped consequently, stockbrokers said. The All Share Price Index decreased to 1,406.94 points from 1,422.62 and the Milanka Price Index to 2,095.13 points from 2,120.73.

The day's turnover was Rs.344,752,458. Domestic purchases were Rs.111,912,138 and foreign purchases Rs.9,860,987. The top five gainers were Vanik, Asiri, Vanik, Talawakelle and Carsons.


Ceylinco Diabetes Centre gets latest Retinal Camera

The Ceylinco Diabetes Centre has been equipped with the latest Non-Mydriatic Retinal Camera for its Eye Clinic, enabling visitors afflicted with diabetes to have the insides of their eyes examined for changes and photographed for future reference. The camera, also known as a Fundus Photography Machine, was supplied by TOPCON of Japan, one of the world's leading manufacturers of ophthalmic equipment, the Centre said this week.

The Ceylinco Diabetes Centre's Eye Clinic is also equipped for slit lamp examination, eye pressure testing and checking for refractory errors by a team of consultant ophthalmologists.

Set up in affiliation with the Washington Hospital Centre, the Centre comprises a Diabetic Clinic, Cardiology Clinic, Eye Clinic, Neurology Clinic, Nephrology Clinic, Dermatology clinic, Diet Clinic and a specialist Diabetes Shop.
