Three gunned down in East by Ranil Wijayapala Killings by rival groups in the East escalated during the last two days with three people gunned down by unidentified gunmen in Trincomalee and Batticaloa, Military and Police sources said yesterday. According to defence sources, an EPDP member was shot dead around 9.40 pm at his residence at Thirugnanasampandan Street Trincomalee. The EPDP member identified as Ramani alias Pandyan was shot dead by unidentified gunmen on a motorcycle, sources added. Another Tamil youth suspected to be having links with a rival LTTE group was shot at by unidentified gunmen suspected to be from the LTTE while he was at a boutique at Kalawanchikudi, Batticaloa. Sinnathambi Yogarasa of Vipulananda Street, Kalladi succumbed to his injuries while being taken to the Kalavanchikudi hospital, sources added. |
