BANGKOK, Sunday - (BSS) Leaders of the South and South-east Asian countries at a summit here
resolved to foster a "sense of community'' to lead to the economic
and social development of the region. The first BIMSTEC summit attended by
heads of government of Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri
Lanka and Thailand also decided to rename the grouping as BIMSTEC or the
Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic
