Holy Cross wins Gampaha Region, Comfest 2004 COMFEST 2004 is an all island annual competition for A/L commerce students organised by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Gampaha division contest was recently held at the Bandaranayaka College, Gampaha. Holy Cross Convent Gampaha won the competition to which 9 schools had participated. The Holy Cross Convent scored 286 points while Ratnawali Balika Maha Vidyalaya emerged first runner - up and Yasodara Balika Maha Vidyalaya came as the second runner - up with 238 and 186 points respectively.
COMFEST is conducted in four different sections to encompass different skills in the commercial arena. "Wiz Kid" where one student represents each school and answers 10 general knowledge questions is the first one. The idea is to reward students who possess a remarkable knowledge of current affairs and the world around them. The second section, the Student Financial Bulletin, employs the students' creative as well as commercial skills. Third is a crossword puzzle, and the final section is the Ad Act where students act out an advertisement of three-minute duration. COMFEST 2004 was launched earlier this year and regional competitions are scheduled to be held in Galle and Kurunagala in the coming months. |
