BDC opens central region office on August 19 The Business Services Support facility (BSSF) established under the Small and Medium Enterprise Sector Development Program (SMESDP), is a project of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the government of Sri Lanka (GOSL). The objectives of the program are to facilitate private sector led Business Development Services (BDS) market growth by promoting demand and supply of sustainable business development services to meet the growth needs of the SME sector. The program also supports an innovative and flexible approach in building the capacity of BDS providers. Six districts namely; Kandy, Matale, Nuwara Eliya, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Badulla come under the purview of BDC central region. Therefore, to get involved all the stakeholders effectively in to the project activities, and to educate them about the BSSF project, we are in the process of conducting a series of workshops within the region. The next awareness workshop and the official launch of BDC, Central Region office will be held on Thursday August 19 at 10 a.m. The Minister of Finance Dr. Sarath Amunugama will be the chief guest. Sunil Hadunnetti the Deputy Minister of Small Industries and Rural Economy will be the guest of honour. A stakeholder workshop will also be conducted on "Present government economic policy towards Small and Medium Enterprise Development" for the benefit of the Small and Medium Entrepreneurs. W. A. Wijewardane, Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Prema Cooray, Secretary General and CEO, Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and Rohan Fernando, Managing Partner, Starline Enterprises andDirector Industrial Development Board will present the government economic policy from the different point of views. |
