The three day international Ahmadiyya Muslim Convention will start today in Islamabad, Tilford, Surrey, UK. Ahmadi Muslims around the world will attend the convention. Delegates from 50 countries including Sri Lanka will attend the convention. Muslim scholars will address the UK convention on topics of importance to humanity. His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahamd, Supreme Head of the Worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community is expected to address the gathering on all three days. Speeches will also be made by non-muslim guests, MPs from UK and African states and special representatives of some Heads of the state. The convention proceedings will be broadcast live by MTA (Sky Channel 807), the Community's 24 hour free satellite television channel which will also offer simultaneous translations into several languages. President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga in a congratulatory message to His Holiness Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, Supreme Head of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community said. "I am pleased to issue a letter of good wishes to the International Ahmadiyya Muslim Convention scheduled to be held in UK. I wish you and your community a very successful convention with the hope that the convention will give yet another opportunity for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaa't to re-dedicate itself to the service of mankind and to teach the members the value of harmony". Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama' at in Islam, is a separate sect of Islam, Founded by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, of Qadian, India, in 1889. He claims to be the promised Messiah and Mahdi as foretold by the Holy Prophet of Islam. |
