by Chamikara Weerasinghe Tamil National Alliance Parliamentarian and Tamil United Liberation Front President R. Sampanthan will meet Home Officials of United Kingdom this week to outline TNA's position in regard to Sri Lanka's peace process. TULF Senior Vice President Joseph Pararajasingam told the Daily News that Sampanthan was in the UK for this purpose. "Sampanthan will also meet State Department officials of Canada to explain TNA's position on the stalled peace talks and how it might be started," he said. Meanwhile, TULF sources in Colombo said Parliamentarian V. Anandasangari had also left for the UK. Asked if Anandasangari would join Sampanthan during the tour, Pararajasingam said Anandasangari had no links with the TULF. Asked if Sampanthan's tour was on an invitation by the UK-Government or arranged by the TNA, Pararajasingam said all he could say was that "arrangements had been made." Commenting on what Sampanthan would say to state officials in the UK, he said Sampanthan would convey the message about the importance of the Sri Lankan Government and LTTE resuming peace talks on the basis of the ISGA proposals and the importance of commencing rehabilitation and reconstruction work to redevelop the North and East. |
