The Federation of Sri Lanka Commuter Associations has urged all bus travellers to send their complaints to the Federation's office against private bus operators who don't adhere to rules and regulations and behave in an uncivilised manner. The General Secretary of the Federation Chandrasena Siriwardana told the Daily News that observers from his Federation had found that most of the private bus employees often abuse passengers. "While such bus conductors stand on the footboard of buses obstructing passengers getting off the buses, they order the passengers to get off quickly in uncivilised language. These conductors are also in the habit of scolding when commuters don't go to the very end of the buses," he explained. Further he said that when bus commuters bear all insults hurled at them by the bus crews, in mute silence, they begin to think that they had also been given licence to insult passengers. Chandrasena added "We have formulated a plan to stop this uncivilised behaviour of private bus crews. As a first step our Federation wants all bus commuters to send their complaints to the following address.
