Is 'Sri Lanka First' a J-biz creation? - CEO's reply In response to an article appeared in the Daily News of July
7 "The JBIZ is very surprised by the highly vituperative and equally
insinuative article captioned as above appearing in the Daily News of July
7 by Amrit Muttukumaru (AM).
Muttukumaru admits that the FCCISL disclaimed any such connection. A
denial by the FCCISL, being a responsible body, under normal circumstances
should have allayed any doubts AM may have entertained. However, since he
insists on an unequivocal statement to that effect from the horses' mouth
so to speak, here it is.
JBIZ has not created any other organisations nor is it nourished or
nurtured by other bodies other than its own constituent members. JBIZ
stands for itself by itself.
Over the years JBIZ has received due recognition by all who matter
starting from this highest in the land. Let me also add that the JBIZ has
not languished till "their interests were severely threatened"
to come together for the cause of peace as history amply demonstrates if
one cares to find out" he says.
For the edification of AM and if at all there are any others who need
such, the JBIZ is a Joint Business Forum comprising; Ceylon Chamber of
Commerce, The Ceylon National Chamber of Industries, Federation of
Chambers of Commerce & Industry of Sri Lanka, The Employer's
Federation of Ceylon, The Exporters' Association of Sri Lanka,
International Chamber of Commerce,
The National Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka, The National Chamber of
Exporters of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Banks' Association.
Sri Lanka First is not a creation of JBIZ".
