TOS Lanka ventures into expansion program Tos Lanka Co (Pvt) Ltd., a Japanese owned BOI enterprise, manufacturing printed circuit boards and electronic components, has announced an expansion program. Jitsuo Mikasa, President of the company recently held discussions with Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment promotion Anura Bandaranaike prior to finalising the company's investment program on expansion. The company as part of its expansion program has installed a Ais-20-82-C Air Solder Reflow System which is automated to provide pre-heating, soldering and cooling of PCB assemblies placed on the transport Sub-system. In addition, this system performs heating, drying, hardening of conductive epoxies and other adhesives. The Ais-20-82-C will perform double sides forced air convection soldering with results superior to IR using different convection settings, to receive unequalled temperature uniformity. All major markets including Europe, USA and Japan will insist on lead free soldering as a Mandatory requirement for electronics manufacturing process with effect from 2005. In this context, Tos Lanka's launch into lead free soldering is seen as a major development for Sri Lanka's electronics industry. Mikasa has expressed confidence in the policies of the new government and the leadership of the President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga. In this background, he has announced the launching of Tos Lanka's second factory at the Biyagama zone. Merrick Gooneratne, CEO of Company confirmed that construction would commence as soon as necessary approvals were finalised. Jitsuo Mikasa stated that Tos Lanka's second factory would be a model state of the Art electronics manufacturing facility capable of meeting the requirements of a highly competitive global market. |
