VSNL ventures in to voice and data services here by Sudarshana Perera Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) a leading telecom and Internet player in India has ventured in to telecom voice and data services to further develop the telco industry in Sri Lanka. The company has also unveiled its brand, 'Tata Indicom' in the Sri Lankan market to offer its services. The company revealed that it has invested Rs. 400 million for its initial operation in the country. VSNL Lanka Limited has commenced the carriage of Incoming and outgoing calls to and from Sri Lanka. VLL has also forayed into the Sri Lankan data market with the launch of its Tata Indicom International Private Leased Circuits (IPLCs). This was made known at a media briefing held in Colombo on Monday. Managing Director, VSNL and Chairman VLL S. K. Gupta Managing Director said, the roots of the cordial business ties between India and Sri Lanka are further strengthened with the presence of his company in Sri Lanka. Gupta said that through its product and services, VLL will endeavour to meet the growing international telecommunication needs of Sri Lankan companies. "Tata Indicom customers in Sri Lanka can be assured of the highest levels of performance, service and support", he said. He said that the company has tied up with carriers, both domestic and international to effectively cater to the International long distance market of the Emerald Island. He said that on the domestic side, VLL has signed interconnect agreements with Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT), M/s Suntel, M/s MTN (Dialog), M/s Lanka Bell and M/s Celltell Lanka. The company has already commenced carrying international voice traffic (incoming and outgoing) of M/s Suntel, M/s MTN (Dialog), M/s Lanka Bell and M/s Celltell Lanka Director - VLL and Director (Operations) N. Srinath, said by leveraging synergies with the parent company, VSNL Lanka Limited will offer its Corporate and Wholesale customers, in Sri Lanka, the highest levels of service and reliability. |
