Prime Minister takes lead in defence of Murali

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse is to take a lead in help facing the challenges thrown at internationally acclaimed Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan.

The Prime Minister has taken a decision to take legal action against International Cricket Council's decision of banning the 'doosra ball', a press release issued by the Prime Minister's office said yesterday.

Lawyers Daya Perera and D.S. Wijesinghe are now having discussions with the Premier to take legal action in this regard, the press release added. The Prime Minister urges all Sri Lankans to join hands, irrespective of ethnic, religious and party differences to protect Muttiah Muralitharan who is an asset to the Sri Lankan nation.
