'Release stamp to honour Murali' The National Council of the YMMAs of Sri Lanka - Maligawatte (Inc) said in a press release that it extends congratulations to the spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan who established a new world record as the highest wicket taker in test cricket history. The release said: 'Al Haj Jainudeen Ahamath, the National President of the National Council of the YMMAs in his congratulatory message said that the world record performance of the spin wizard has been the talk of the town in all segments of the society irrespective of their involvement in sports. He has reached this milestone despite many obstacles he has had to face in his career. 'Muttiah Muralitharan is unique in that he is the highest wicket taker in test cricket and is also a great cricketer in that he did this as a Sri Lankan thus becoming the 2nd in Sri Lankan sportsman to have reached the top rungs in an international sport beside late M. J. M. Lafir who became the World Billiard Champion in 1970. 'The National Council of the YMMAs of Sri Lanka while saluting this great sportsman urge the authorities concerned to release a stamp to honour Muttih Muralitharan who has brought honour to Mother Sri Lanka', the release said. |
