Pirith at Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court by Sarath Malalasekera It is a matter for great happiness that the head of the judiciary in Sri Lanka is participating in a 'Pirith' ceremony organised by the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court Lawyers' Association. Chief Justice Sarath N. Silva is a strong practising Buddhist who has always helped to uplift the noble preaching of Lord Buddha, Sambuddhaloka Viharadhipathy Ven. Dr. Iththademaliye Indrasara Thera observed at a sermon, before the Pirith ceremony held at the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court premises on Friday. Ven. Indrasara Thera paid a tribute to the organisers for having organising the religious ceremony to bless the country for everlasting peace. President's Counsel Daya Perera, Bar Association of Sri Lanka Secretary Anoma Goonetilleke, BASL Assistant Secretary Sunil Abeyratne, BASL Treasurer Mahinda Lokuge, Legal Aid Foundation Chairman Hemantha Warnakulasuriya, Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court Lawyers' Association President Joseph Charles, Vice President P. D. P. Perera, Secretary Gunaratne Wanninayake, Treasurer Santha Herath, Assistant Secretary Chandra Abeyratne, Court Registrar Cyril Gunawardena, senior and junior members of the Association also participated. Inspector W. M. Chandratilleke, OIC, Keselwatta Police and Court Officer SI K. W. J. Sisira were in-charge of the security arrangements during the ceremony. |
