Subhash Ghai completes marathon 40 days shooting of Kisna

Producer director SUBHASH GHAI returns to Mumbai this week, after completing a 40-day marathon-shooting schedule of his most prestigious film KISNA with his 240 unit members in Ranikhet and other Himalayan locations at Uttranchal. Kisna written by Subhash Ghai, Farukh Dhondy, Sachin Bhowmick and Margaret Glover is being directed and produced by Subhash Ghai under the banner of Mukta Arts Ltd, which has a mixed cast from India and the United Kingdom.

Vivek Oberoi plays the title role of Kisna with two new heroines - Isha Sharvani, a renowned dancer from Kerala and Antonia Bernath from London along with famous British actors Michael Maloney, Caroline Lingruish and veteran actress Polly Adams. The cast is supported with a talented team of Indian actors including Hrishita Bhatt, Amrish Puri, Om Puri, Yash Pal Sharma, Shivaji Sattam, Zarina Wahab and Rajat Kapur.

This musical love story with an adventurous backdrop of the 1940s in India has two veteran music composers A. R. Rahman and Ismail Darbar with lyrics by Javed Akhtar - rare music expected to surpass all Subhash Ghai films. It's purely an Indian film with Indian music, Indian values and Indian emotions with an Indian backdrop for a wider range of audience from masses to classes.

This is my effort to reach out to everybody in the cinema hall and provide entertainment with a great story. This would be the best script so far in my career, says Subhash Ghai for himself.

Shot on sync sound under the Director of Audiography - Dilip Subramaniam at Ranikhet, the international actors were highly impressed by the high standards Indian filmmakers and technicians are achieving to reach international excellence in terms of content and technique. Kisna will also go to the international market with its two-hour English version while the Hindi version will be a regular three-hour feature film with songs and dances.

A. R. Rahman has recorded a special English number for Kisna for the international market, which will be released in the international music market.

Being shot on a budget of Rs. 25 crore, Kisna is being photographed by National Award winner and renowned Cinematographer Ashok Mehta with another National Award winner Samir Chanda as Production Designer and Art Director. Tinu Verma directs the Action and thrills in the film while Saroj Khan is the Director of Choreography for this epic love story, which is expected to release by the end of this year.
